I began training in 2016 when Luke was 3 years old. I can still remember how exhausted I felt everyday from the moment he was born until I started lifting. He was a difficult infant and did not sleep well during the night, so I was trying to navigate new motherhood with constant, interrupted, poor quality sleep. I napped everyday with no relief. That all changed once I started weight training 3x/week. I immediately noticed a shift in my energy levels; I was no longer taking naps during the day and I got a deeper, better quality sleep so that I woke up more refreshed. Not feeling groggy and run down everyday helped tremendously with my productivity as a stay-at-home mother, which in turn helped my confidence as a person. Then, fast forward to August 2017 and I had Sienna....a completely different story and I attribute it all to my strength training. To keep my training consistent, I now had to train at 6am, which meant I had to get up at 4am in order to nurse her before I left the house. I did this for 10 months and during that time, I took a handful of naps, if that. So, now I was getting up even earlier because I had 2 kids and more responsibility, but I wasn't feeling that debilitating exhaustion that I once felt with only 1 kid and less responsibility and technically more sleep. HOW FREAKING AWESOME IS LIFTING! My training gives me the energy to get through the day without feeling exhausted. It truly allows me to accomplish all that I need to get done in a day, while still taking care of the kids and myself. Feeling my best while being highly productive has contributed to an overall better sense of well-being for me. I am stronger, at a healthier weight, more well rested, and more confident all because of my training routine.
